What I didn't need:

• Snacks: I was on a clear liquid diet for 3 days & couldn't eat a lot

• Medicines & vitamins: I wasn't allowed to take my own meds; they had to be provided by the hospital

• Kindle, journal, & magazines: I looked at my magazine once; I had no energy and either just watched the hospital TV, talked to my family, or slept

• Face wash: I couldn't bend over to wash my face

• Clothes: Other than the clothes I arrived in and went home in, I just wore the hospital gown & socks provided
